The New York Institute Sanctuary
Built in the early days of the Nephilim, a Sanctuary still stands after long times. It was erected with thick stones and sturdy columns, also designed to protect the Downworlders visiting or kept in there who cannot step on hallowed ground. Around the building, trees and vines with thick leaves cover it, crawling on its roof like a shade.
Denizens of the Downworld cannot step on the blessed grounds of the Institute. This is the main reason why Sanctuaries are built - for Downworlders and Shadowhunters to gain access to the Institute without getting harmed by the power it keeps. But since the creation of Projecting, Sanctuaries aren't used that much. Yet there are some who can't use such creation, to whom Sanctuaries are a big help.
