The Statue of Liberty
About The Statue
Lady Liberty. Yes, the green lady with a spiky crown. Indeed, the one holding a torch up high. The most prominent icon in the US, a symbol of freedom and welcoming. There is also a broken chain around her feet, in case you don't know. It's gift of France to the United States, representing the Roman goddess Libertas, or liberty. You mustn't miss visiting her!
Yet she is situated in a small island, Liberty Island. Ride a ferry that will take you there. Entrance is free, yet you need some special tickets if you want to go by the base, or even climb up the staircase inside to the statue's crown. Don't worry, you can reserve that special ticket for a year in advance. But make sure to respect the place. It's also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It's also a heritage site of lots of mysterious figures. So be observant and alert all the time!
